It's done it to me twice now.
I've typed out all the text I want, hit the '+' button to add it as a function of the hotkey, added a pic to the hotkey, and a tooltip. Then hit 'Save' and then I CTD. >.<

its been doing that t ome too, I get my message all typed out, then try to finalize it and i get crashed :( I gave up, and sent in a bug ticket for it, maybe itll get fixed soon... its a real annoyance :(

The '/setpref X' commands work on a hotkey. But just a normal text message made me CTD.

yeah thats what happened with me after trying to hotkey message to go into market, it kept crashing so i just like gave up, its like the game is infested with bugs
