Default To the Devs: What do you need from us?

    Developers of Horizons,
In responce to a ticket that a friend of mine received:

    Edited Text (to protect anyone)
"With the last patch that we applied, we had made some changes
to the positioning system which have not been behaving properly.
This has been the cause of many issues that players have been
experiencing right now such as poor performance, trouble with making
turns when running, decreased framerate, and also spells and actions
not responding properly during combat. We have been seeing that
players can workaround this problem for the time being by enabling
Free Movement in their options, and we are collecting more
information about the issue by asking for feedback from players
after they change that setting. Fixing the root of all these issues
is one of our absolute highest priorities right now, and we are
working feverishly to get this sorted out. I ask that you please
bear with us while we work on it, and we will have it fixed as soon
as we possibly can. We do sincerely appreciate your support and we
strive to make this game as enjoyable as possible for everyone. So
please continue to send in your feedback and let us know how we are
doing, what you would like to see, and things you would like to do
    within Istaria."

From this post it's stated that "we are collecting more
information about the issue by asking for feedback from players..."

What information would you like from us? What can WE do as a community to help YOU, the devs, in fixing the ongoing bug problems? Sample logs? time testing? I'm sure I'm not the only one that would help you in your quest to squash the bugs of Istaria.

Just tell us what you need to know, what you want us to watch. We are a community. We all have had a hand (at some point) in shaping Istaria into what it is today.

Just to add a bit more to that:

My CS ticket: This occured while fighting with a group on Elnath looking mainly for tier V tech drops and only after this morning's patch: 1/11/04. Occasionally, and it got worse as the day went on, the corpses of monsters killed would creep/float away. They would float away constantly until the corpse was despawned and was unlootable either standing by where the monster was originally killed or by where the monster's corpse was while it was moving away. Every time it would say that the corpse was unlootable due to the fact that it was too far away. I had a group of 8 others with me and some of the times all of us would see the corpses drift away and be unable to loot and other times all but one or two of us would see them creep away. The one or two who actually saw them occasionally in their correct location could always loot, the rest of us couldn't. This is a horrible bug as many of us play the game mostly looking for drops to assist with our crafting and looking for good new blighted equipment. (Note this was T5 fyakkis, spiders and grey necroflies - not restricted to one monster)

    Response by CSR Rawdge AE:

We are currently working on fixing some issues that have manifested due to the changes that we made to the positioning system with this latest patch. Please bear with us while we get this sorted out. Thanks a bunch, and have a great week!

Well at least we know it's a known problem. But I can't help but think perhaps there's something that we as a community can do to help the Devs out. Like Log files or data gathering or something.

Well I've had free movement turned on for awhile now and still have the bugs, so the workaround doesn't always work.

Personally, on this matter, I'm wondering why the community is up in arms about it.
from my personal experiance, it's ALWAYS worked like that..

if you move from side to side while smacking around a MOB you spells always reset.
if you are forced to move because of a MOB your timer resets.

For me, it's not that I move and then the spell resets, it's that I need to move to start casting spells.
It doesn't happen all the time, but can still get annoying.

We just found and fixed a positioning bug that may explain both the incorrect movement as well as the problem of not casting a spell unless you move.

The fix is going to Blight right now for testing.

:o I guess you can help by enabling debug logs (in the main horizons folder is the enable debug exe... may need to launch it via a command prompt), then when in game do /loc commands (or the one that gives debug axis and position info) and send in the logs of that... Maybe doing that on blight, and if they could, have a server logger running to monitor their end, and do a case where you fight X creature at Y location and then they can compare the server end with the client end....
