Ok peaches as YOU requested a repost of Seranthor's thread

    Original thread found here

    http://community.istaria.com/Web/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=62667

Synopsis.. after last patch permissions on some buildings were set to allow all. Which resulted in some players taking advantage of a bug in the system and making off with goods.

As was said all in game pixels can be replaced but this bug has been a problem for sometime and usually happens after a patch or server restart. Its also an old bug that Tulga Seems unable to fix.

Keep this thread bumped to keep it a current issue...

well not like there isn't many but still... oh well anyway...

How about yet another request for official comment on a serious bug in the sysem ? One that should not be ignored don't you think ?

    That better ?

hehehehe no TG is a thief in this post :)

Anyways, as I stated before I have not heard about this issue since Seranthor posted about (since the merge that is).

Also keep in mind that there may be a new exploit that popped up at some point. Whatever the case may be, I hope they fix it ASAP.

aye that is why I reposted....

But that is the hope that they fix this. Cause I read about this bug months ago when it was prevailant on Silos.

Posted by me in another thread:

Keep in mind they may have fixed it and then it broke again. Or rather their safety measure of setting to deny all broke. *shrug*.

I wonder if they can sift through the logs they claim to be able to do and find the culprit, and find out how he did it.

Pharcellus I'd love to know how and when it was done, have the missing things returned and would very much like the issue to come to a close.

    I'm looking into this.

I'm pretty confident the original issue was fixed around the time of the merge. This sounds like a new issue where players are able to alter the permissions of others' plots.

Regardless, this type of problem is a big deal, and I'll do what I have to to prevent further theft.

I think the best precaution you can take here is just keep any ultra-rare or highly valued items in your vault. Scary stuff.

Thank you Smeg, I was starting to think given the response of some that I didn't have a right to be upset over this, I'm pleased that you've validated my feelings on this matter. When can we expect reimbursements for those things that have been stolen?

Personally, I'd like the facility to maintain an access list of individual characters, instead of just deny-all/guild-only/everybody. That way, when some sleazy git gets a guild invite under false pretences, it doesn't get access to the structures.

The Friends List controls access to the spacial area of the plot (redwalled or not). It does not control access to structures.

As it stands Buildings can only be set to Deny All, Guild Only, or Allow All.

Basically we need Friends only access on Structures too...

If you don't mind Iwould like to redefine that Divine...[;)] we very much need friendslists on all storage-structures. And once that is done, make only 1 possibility for what is left, both workshops and plot as a whole: Access free for all.

That would clearfour issues in one go: 1. storages would be safe at last (also player-stores included here, seeing they can't be used as much else then that, sadly...) ánd 2. at long last friends that are not in the same guild would be able to share things; on the other hand3. redwalling plots and 4. denying access to much needed workshopswould finally be a thing of the past [mo].
