    Talking Babble Thread!

    Inspired by Droth's desire to have a place where folks can go off-topic as much as they wish, to derail threads to their heart's content, I bring you this board's first, official, ready-to-eat BABBLE THREAD!

    I'll start with something near and dear to us "oldtimers" . . . .

    Dryness face. ******** fine Cobrettis.

    Dang Tant, that is old!!!

    And I still don't understand it. Must be some kind of Zen-Obie Wan thing. Chuckle!!
    English doesn't borrow from other languages. English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over & goes through their pockets for loose grammar. -=Paraphased from James Nicoll=- Unicorn's Lady's Dalliance

    It's not supposed to be understood. It's like 2001: A Space Oddysey--it's COSMIC.

    Actually, I Googled Cobrettis and got directed to some German sites which, even when translated (sort of) made no sense . . . .

    No thanks C'gan... I like to speak English in America, when I'mm in Italy I'll speak Italian (to the best of my ability, it has been 26 years) or in Korea, Korean. I think a lot of Americans are pompous in thinking that they can speak English anywhere in the world and the locals are supposed to understand. I will try to learn a language and the best way I know is picking up a book or dictionary (do those old Franklin Translators still exist?).

    /* rant off

    I feel better now

    To be fair, I know quite a few europeans that know english better than I do(Born and raised in America). And some of them were no older than 15 years old. I see where your coming from, and agree to the fullest extent, but if you can't grasp your toung around the language, there is still hope of communication
