Question About Grouping Please....

I wanted to know If I were to group with a lower lvl player than me (Im lvl15 warrior) and he killed his mobs and I went to another area in NT(New Trismus) that was a higher level for me to kill can he still gain xp from me? Or do I have to group and stay in the same area with my group so they can get xp?

The members of the group have to be in the same area in order to get xp
