    Talking Signs on silos, dye on tents

    It would really help if we could customize/sign our silos the way we can to a pouch so we could easily see the contents!
    Also, those tents are so ugly , can't we dye them?

    its easy enough to edit your sector def to chance the name of your tent/silo to that of what you want it to say.

    Also they can not apply dye to container currently. Not sure if this is the issue with tents or not.

    A structure and a container item are two completely different things. I doubt the dye issue that exists with pouches would apply to a method of changing the tint of a structure.

    Labelling silos is a good idea. Editing your sector defs just isn't an option for any but the most daring players. (Yes, Seranthor, I know it's easy. That doesn't make it any less of a scary project for someone who's not quite sure what he's doing.)

    exactly. I didn't understand a word of what you said about altering sectors.
    Someone could make a bundle designing signs . After all, how is anyone going to put a name on their Tavern?

    Always thought being able to label silos would be helpful. Hate having to reopen 20+ just to find what I was looking for. Or for an empty one. Or some other guildee moved stuff, it happens.
    I suppose editing the sector defs partially addresses it, but then it would only apply to you and if someone else moved stuff... and it sould be made part of interface. I mean we're talking about suggestions for improvement right?

    I'd second the signs on silos and other storage structures, though I don't think they have to be visible on the model itself. It would suffice to have it show up as the structure description.

    If this were actually being considered to be implemented, a second request would be that anyone with access to the storage also be able to change the structure's description. With more plot owners making their storage accessable to the community (this is a GOOD THING), it's becoming harder to tell who the contents belongs to, whether it's up for grabs or not to be touched, and how long it will be there. Hopefully this would make it possible to communicate those things.

    @ontopic: yes would be nice if you could sign your silos/tents, maybe a simple name change would help too?

    if you click on the structure, it would show the name you gave it?

    No, I imagine it'd be a fairly trivial change. You'd be merely setting the database value for an item's colour to be selectable from available colours.

    Fun and harmless addition, IMHO.

    Tents are structures, they are not pieces of armor... and for the record, you can colour your tents... brown or blue, when you build them...

    Then you have a serious amount of learning about how hz works. This is not trivial, it takes work and just isn't possible without new tech, its been asked before many times

    "Dying" buildings isn't possible.

    It is possible that we could add a way for you to give each building a custom name. But that would be on the "pony" list at this point.

    theres somewhere a thread about the sector_default.def
    there you can read how to create your own signs.
