how long are chracters saved?

I played Horizons long ago when it first came out. had to stop playing due to change of job and being too busy.

Just wondered I think the game came out in 2003. Would my old characters still be on the server?

Characters are stored forever. Yours are still as they were.

He's right, they have been stored forever.

There have been no character wipes to date. However, please do not take that as an indication that there never will be.

The only place where there might ever be a character wipe is on blight, but that is a known risk you take when playing on blight. As far as I know there never has been one, though.

As for the other shards, sure, i's in their right to do so, but I really, really, really doubt they would ever do such a ... er, such an unwise decision.

It should be noted that we're only talking about wipes of characters on inactive accounts here - not active characters!

Wipes are needed after a time, they just can't keep all that data stored forever and ever. They could always send out an email with a link in it to keep that character data, the rest get deleted.
