Yesterday I was in the Mithrils running around, someone across the clearing was hit with avalanche and *I* was rooted with Overburden. Is this new?
We weren't in group and I wasn't hit. Just had the AoE Burden land on me or something.

I know of no way this could happen as a result of someone else being hit. However, maybe you were hit but didn't receive the combat message about it.

This happend to me also, but I was in a group with the person that got hit, it happend both ways, he got hit, we both got overburdened, etc.
As for being hit and not getting feedback. I don't think that is the case. They were on the other side of the field and I was taking no damage. Just suddenly... overburdened.
Can you look at the triggers for it?
