This is a skimmed version of the conversation we were lucky enough to have with DarkEnigmaa and Gizmo today. I tried to make it an easy read for those who want to take the time to go through and pick up major points, but I also tried to leave a bit of their personalities in tact as well. They are fun guys and seem to be truly interested in what we as a player base expect from the game.

i keep reading alot about new events they want to release, but very little about any client changes, or any of the other things that tulga seemed adament to get fixed.

new things to do in the game are all well and good, but what about the technical aspects of the game, how will the advancement in making the client better be stunted by this?

they seem to want to please the "players", but i will have to wait and see just how they intend to please us. i will follow suit with others and set a given amount of time they have to show their good faith. my sub is up in about 5?ish days anyway, hopefully they will make me want to resub

When the person we were told was a rep showed up in marketplace chat he spoke not a word for over 45 minutes before disappearing and then we heard he showed up back on IRC to chat. I don't do IRC though so that did me no good.

Thanks Lex for posting what they're saying to you folks on Chaos though, even secondhand news is better than none at all.

I'm reminded of a like from "Wrath of Khan" whenever I see them chatting in IRC (in transcripts) when Kirk says: "Do you think these kids can steer."

Its WAY too early for them to say much. Right now they don't know anything about the internals of the game. If they said right now that they were going to do such and such specfiic things I'd take that as a VERY bad sign because it's too early to make any sort of intelligent evaluations.

It COULD turn out well. It could kill the game once and for all. We'll just have to see.

However, recall that HZ has been even closer to shutting down then it is now. When AE declared bankruptcy that could have been it yet it managed to survive. You may not like DB, but if it weren't for him there would be no HZ.

We'll just have to see what they do. That's going to take many months. Then and only then can they start making realistic plans and we won't start to see the new direction until some months later.

It may require six months to a year to get a really solid feeling for where they're going. If they're careful stewards of the game I doubt there will be any changes beyond emergency fixes which HAD to be fixed for the next few months.

If you're only going to give them 60 days, I think your verdict after that time is up is that they're not doing anything. Simply because they'd be crazy to do much. If you gave them a year you might come to a very different verdict.

This is going to take time. It could go either way.
