Thread: Web-based Rating Calculator

    Lightbulb Web-based Rating Calculator

    Hi all,

I felt the existing web-based rating calculator (the one I knew of anyway) was lacking in a few features so I made a new one. I've called it the "Horizons School Rating Configumatron" and I'd love if you guys could help me test it. I have it at a temporary address for now but hope to find a more permanent place for it later. It can be found at:

    http://horizons.gotdns.com

    Features/Notes:
    - Change current school on the fly with a drop-down list
    - Fields accept numbers only and the numbers must be between 0 and 100
    - Bookmarkable link to the page to "save" your school setup (not quite working yet)
    - Gives both actual and non-rounded rating
    - Gives full description of rating and how it's calculated
    - Ugly black and white theme (*sigh* maybe I'll do something nicer later)

Thanks to those in the MarketPlace channel on Chaos who helped me test it a bit the other night. I've made a few changes since then so check it out again! Please post here or PM me with any comments, corrections, etc.

btw, your SIG is a takeoff on an offworld design T-shirt:

I will have to try your rating calculator... lemme guess... dragon 100... checks again... 100, checks a third time... 100.

Hehe, that would be good on a T-shirt! I'm not sure who originally said that quote, but I hear it was from Dilbert!

And yeah, the rating calculator isn't much use for dragons.

    but what does rating say?
only and just the xp one gets for adventure kills

maby a list of this would be nice too? 120 rows..
that dynamically changes depending on the input from the user?

Thanks, Thangorodrim, but I'm not sure what you mean - a list of what?

He's asking for the XP you would receive from killing an enemy based on your rating. As far as I know this formula is not published. It's really two formulas, one for monsters above your rating and another for those equal or below your rating.

Back when I had time for trivial pursuits I did an analysis on the XP system and managed to find the formula for killing monsters less than your rating. It's all based on a concept called "Base Monster XP," the XP you gain when your level is equal to the monster's level. After that the equation looked like this:

Again, that's only for monsters less than your rating and with no group or multiple enemy bonuses. You get the BaseMonsterXP value from killing that monster where your rating = their rating. These values are arbitrarily assigned, but generally follow a quadratic (not exponential) curve.

    "No."

http://horizons.gotdns.com/ is an invalid link. I would love to be able to find a program where i could plug in my various combat levels (and planned ones) to get the ranking. Anyone know of one?
