    Default coloured wisps

got the info working locally, let's see if I can upload them

I know the bright wisps don't actually look very bright here, but it wasn't a good screenshot I'm afraid. they look brighter in person!

Tiers 1-3 wisps have the same colour for both sparkles and the "shell" of the wisp, tiers 4-6 have different colours. I kept to three basic colours for ease of play, and there's only one area (wisp island) as far as I know where there are different types together..

extract the files in the zip to the usual location.. (resources_override)

oh and I nearly forgot. It includes the tint files to make the essence, orbs, and construction items for T1-T3 a different colour too

Thanks to some input from Lio, I'll be working on a couple of variations over the weekend..

the file in its current state also downloads tints for t4-t6 inventory icons and blighted ones as well as t1-t3 now.

I will be working on releasing a "subtle" colour one, and a "technicolour" one.. I'd call the tints on inventory items more in the latter category at the moment! I will also be releasing as part of this, recolouring of wisps t4-t6 being green (very bright), purple, and very glowing white.. these, naturally, will be part of the "technicolour" version, whereas I'll be quietening down the inventory icons for the subtle one (and probably keeping the same wisps as my original post for the subtle one too).

What I need in the meantime is a nice friendly HIGH level enchanter to get me the following for testing purposes:
the below items for tier 4 (bright), tier 5 (shining) and tier 6 (radiant)..

    1 gathered wisp essence
    1 essence orb
    1 construction sphere
    1 construction source

I can do tiers 1-3 myself, but it would be really nice to be able to grab one screenshot of them ALL in inventory in their different colours rather than paintshopping it in

You could always swap T1-3 for T4-6 files for a screenshot.

yep, did that with the wisps, but what I'd like is an (ONE) inventory shot with all items t1-t6 shown, with the different tints.. tricky to do without the relevant resources or PSP trickery

new versions to be uploaded soon...
"Subtle" version (for some reason in the screenshot, the pale sparklies are missing, but they ARE there in the game).

And the "Dayglo" or Technicolour one..

and yes, you can choose dayglo wisps and subtle inventory if you so want.. but I thought the dayglo would be fun to try

I will be uploading when I've done tiers 4-6 as well (green, purple, white)..

Wow. I wish they'd merge this mod straight into the game. Along with the wisp blobs on the ground too, since the player mods can't do that.

I can also report that recharge cells are coloured appropriately...

oh yes, forgot that side effect

some crystals apparently are also affected by these files.. but it's only a colour change

    Hi there,

I like the mods. Keep up the good work.

Using Dayglow myself. I like to have a noticable difference in the wisps.

I did want to report that your Subtle Pale wisp is bugged. I does not show the sparkle in game but I took a look at the files. I figured it was maybe just a typo and it was. Here is what I found in your com_resource_wisp2_sparkle.sha file with the typo in red:

    Code:
    {
    	rgbColor diffuse .48 .71 .9 1 ambient .48 .71 .9 1 1
    	map com_resource_wisp_sparkle_n.tga multiply
    	blendFunc ONE ONE
    	depthTest nowrite LESS
    	tcMod rotate 170
    	cull none
    }
Just wanted to update you. Thank again for the mods.

    My goodness.

In the past, I have had the Devil's own time trying to pick wisps out from against snowfields, particularly in the daytime. Finally, I thought to open a chat window, expand it to cover the top 1/2 of my view, then modify it to 40% opacity. Presto! Polarized sunglasses!

But, simply coloring the dratted things will work as well.

Does anyone know if Primal Essence would be effected by a change in wisp color, or are the two connected at all?

It really depends on whether the programmers used the same tint & shader files as I've recoloured..

I do know that the mod has affected more things in game than I expected (recharge cells for example appear to use the same tint files).

If it's changed colour dramatically and that colour matches the colour as shown in the screenshots above, then I'd say it uses the same files.. if it has done something else, then no.
