I just read a patch note that SOE have removed Patrons from shamans, any clue why they removed them?

They where removed due a expolit, but you can get your patron easy back if you go back to any shaman trainer, he gives you a totem, than you can call your patron god and get again the abilites.
cool, thanks. was considering going back to VG, but that scared me for a moment.
what was the exploit btw??

You could somehow have multipe patrons and get their buffs an abilites, but dont ask me how that happened Maybe getting 2 patron quests at the same time and finishing them at the same time or such.
wow, is that how seriously bugged VG still is? Then im not surprised and no wonder im having serious display problems after moving from area to area.

VG has been bugged since SOE bought Vigil (Kill EE% something that made it unique in the mmorpg market). SOE Screw-up Online Entertainment. SWG, EQ2, Vanguard, need I go on?
Segorian_Bounty - Elder Adult Dragon - Chaos
Mearis - Saris - All around biped crafter - Chaos
....Toooo many alts to list them all
I gave up after my 6 month sub ran out. My high end graphics machine could not even run it with everything at "Medium"
The lag was so bad, and mobs so outbalanced, even a 8th level could kill your 13th level Shaman simply by spamming silence spells on you and then beating you to death with a staff, or casting spells on you (which was silence most of the time) I just let my sub elapse.
My horse would disappear when I went through "invisozones" and the entire game would freeze for up to 5 minutes sometimes (more like 30sec - 1minute) swapping zones.
Quests were bugged to where you would have to "drop / retake" them. If your escort mission died, the quest was bugged until you deleted / retook the quest.
Trying to find groups / guilds was a problem too. People at release were all out to be in the "big race" to see who could be first to <fill in the blank> no one bothered with guilds. I tried to find a guild, was met with "Who are you? do I know you?" so my first 20 levels were soloing and bored out of my skull.
Their crafting system has something to be desired as well. I didn't even do any crafting it was that tedious and boring.
Unless they have made huge leaps and bounds in their game graphics and population, the game just never "did it" for me.
Justa Mirage: Ranger 100 / Healer 92 / Carpentry 100 / Confectioner 100 / Fletching 92 / Weaver 62 / Gatherer 34
Flatspin: Ancient Lunus Dragon 100 / Craft 100 / Lairshaping 100
I may try reinstalling VG to see if its just a bad installation and see if the display problems end. I mean after moving a few seconds, when you try to pop up a UI window of any kind the UI goes garbles and after a further while the whole screen scrambles up after repeated flushes

Oh come on. Sigil had bad management and choppy development. They spent 30 million USD and what, 5 or 6 (!!) years, and by the time they finally ran out of money, VG was barely half-"finished". Leaky, buggy, slow. 20GB game client?? Brad McQuaid & Co had their chance. They blew it. No wonder M$ pulled their support. "Third generation MMO"? What a joke....
And after Sigil's own fiasco, SOE picked up the whole mess. Without their intervention, there would be no VG at all. No, SOE is no perfect company, but why people bash somebody when others are to blame?

No interest here. Not heard anything to suggest that Vanguard's dual core bug was ever fixed (Vanguard ignored dual cores in beta, so you had the full operation of only one core, half your memory, half your resources). I didn't even last through open beta.
I miss my Vulmane only in the extent that if I could have the character transferred over to Horizons, I'd probably play it more.

Hey, and you never know, the Vulmane here might even get to have tails.
I played vg from the last beta till very recent, it just didn't have the same feel for me as Hz, missed being able to fly around as a dragon and really missed the plots, construction was a joke you could walk around with the res for about 10 houses in your pockets along with a few ships. What really did it for me was when raids really got off the ground, to be in a raid you need to be continuously online for many hours it seemed to me, not possible to log onj and raid for an hour or so. Also crafting became pointless when it is not too hard to get better gear by raiding than it is possible to make. I looked at all other games and Hz is the only one I really like to play as my favourite pastime is crafting with occasional adv.
I just wish I had a computer that would run Vanguard. I actually had friends playing it.
