Riddle

[Arietna]

A person is trapped inside a room, unable to be free unless he gives the correct answer to a riddle. He observes the two people ahead of him give the answers as follows:
the first prisoner asks to be let out. The spirit guarding the door hisses "twelve" and the prisoner answers "six". He is let out through the door.
the second prisoner asks to be let out. The spirit guarding the door snarls "six" and the prisoner answers "three". He is also let out.
The third prisoner, having decided he knows the logic, asks to be freed. The spirit guarding the door growls "ten", and the prisoner answers "five". He was NOT allowed out.

why?

because the spirit recalls the ways of the lunus and believes the prisoner should remain enslaved after all?

could be any capricious reason, i'll have to think if i can come up with a mathematical answer

maybe the answer had to be a factor less than the previous answer, or answers had to alternate between even & odd, in which case he should have said 2?

The answer is "three"

Twelve has six letters so the answer of "six" was correct.
Six has three letters so the answer of "three" was correct.
Ten has three letters so the answer of "five" was incorrect.

Not good at coming up with riddles so anyone else can go in my place if I am correct in this.

Who did you say showed you how to make riddles like that, Awdz? I think it's pretty nifty if you need to come up with one on the spot. However, those types are also quite easy to identify and figure out. XD
