    Default Poetry: The Distant Watcher

    Usually I post my Istaria-related poetry in the Chaos area but meh. Seems like it belongs in here, honestly.

    So a little somewhat sad dragon PoV poetry. Was debating between calling it "The Distant Watcher" or "The Hatchling's Wish".

    ----

    Piercing the night sky before me,
    The distant mountains stand tall;
    Yet lonely in their haze of cloud,
    Solitary figures of heartless stone.

    I spread my wings to the dawn,
    Welcoming it as it crowns them in gold.
    Figures once draped in mourning white,
    Glorious now in new born scarlet hues.

    Yet my wings now fold again,
    Bid by fate to not ride the wind;
    I must merely stand and watch it unfold,
    As the stars fade and flee from me.

    I shall watch as day becomes night,
    Then as night becomes day once more;
    I shall watch the mountains celebrate and mourn,
    Until the day I may soar among them in all my glory.
