Help I can't login - Checklist to follow

Hi all

Since the chaos hamsters are still AWOL i've decided to create a check list of things to check if you can't login to the game.

Be afraid this is a big list but i'm sure I have missed some (mainly Vista).

As always any feedback is welcome

Why not just post the list here?

It's great that you're willing to do this, but it would be considerably better to have the this here on the forums, not on a different website that someone needs to go visit.

This would also allow others to post their findings, and for our team to be able to review and verify the list.

Simple answer I'd rather have it on my own site.

That way I have full editing and mod rights and can change it easily as I need to. I've moved all my other guides there already.

On the community forum I can't edit anything after 30 mins, so if there is an error it can't be changed easily.

Okay i have been logging in a total of 3 times now everytime i log into clouds how do i fix this >< anyone else having this issue on chaos?

I'm having this problem, too. So far I've only successfully been able to log in to Chaos once out of about 20 or so attempts.

Same thing here. I've tried starting up about 10 times and I just get clouds.

I cleared World Cache
I rebooted my firewall
I set the launcher to do a full scan
I'm using the new Launcher.exe (not the old one)
I've uninstalled .NET 3.5 and 3.0 (running 2.0 SP2)
Direct X is 9.0 (which ran fine yesterday)
I have active subscriptions (lot of good they're doing me)

!!!!! AND POOF, I just finally got in after letting it set for another 10 minutes in the clouds.

(Something in this list worked for me, don't know which)

I tried thrice.

Third's the charm, since on that one I checked full scan and clear world cache.

I've got an install of XP dual booted for the sole purpose of playing Istaria (before the new client). When the new client was release I could no longer load the game. It would go through the patcher, download any necessary files, then nothing.

Every time generated an error on the windows Event log (can't remember the details at work). The solution: downloading and the Visual C++ 2005 and 2008 Redistributable packages from Microsoft.com.

For 32 Bit OS:

Yes, exactly. Editing time limits are extremely annoying, generally unnecessary (except against people like me, and the few of us who abuse editing time limits can be easily banned if that proves necessary).

There is a reason why most sites, even most of the various MMOG official forums, don't have time-based editing limits. It's cause they severely limit the utility of forums, forcing people to use alternative methods of communication, like Chasing is doing. Most sites have realized that it isn't a good idea to drive web-traffic from themselves away over such an insignificant thing, so they make sure not to enable this feature in their forum software.
