Thread: Blacksmith progression

    Default Blacksmith progression

So I have Quarrying I. Now I wonder how to get Quarrying 2? Do I just keep leveling up to get it, or do I buy it somewhere just like I would a formula?
I was wanting to be able to process iron ore and I assumed that it is quarrying 2 that is needed.

yeap it is level restricted....it advances every 200 points, i believe? no wait, it goes by optimal skill - you have to reach a certain skill level to even be able to harvest the next tier......

something like that, someone less noobish can explain it more technically....

Ok, so suffice to say that I will get it as I keep leveling?

It's a combination of both Velv - craft tier abilities are gained every 20 levels, so Quarrying I is craft level 1-19, Quarrying II is craft level 20-39, Quarrying III is craft level 40-59 and so on. The ability is instantly mastered (meaning you can use it even if you swap craft schools to a lower level one). You automatically get the ability as soon as you tick over to level 20/40/60/80/100, it doesn't need to be purchased.

The trick is how much you gain when harvesting based on your Quarrying *skill*. Check the General Crafting Guidelines on the wiki for a backgrounder. In *all* cases it is more efficient (where efficient = least time to gain experience) to process materials when you are at optimum efficiency. That may mean you need to process Tier I components up until levels 25-30 before you switch to Tier II components. Sounds frustrating, but I can guarantee you will level faster than if you switch to Tier II too early.

Highly recommend getting Potions too, if you are looking to bulk-collect raw resources. There is info on these at the bottom of the gen crafting page linked above.

    some extra info

For processing iron ore you need smelting II
For getting the ore mining II
Quarrying is needed for getting types of stone and precious stones.
All you get with leveling blacksmith. (among others)
