By May I'll be gone.
Sorry about making a public quit-post, but this is the easiest way to reach everyone who cares (even though it also reaches those who don't).
May is when my subscription ends. I've decided not to renew it for these reasons:
- Whenever I log in I feel a lot of frustration, annoyance, and resentment. Frustration with lag of various kinds, including spawn delays and not knowing whether someone else's character is actually where they appear to be on the screen and in the group window. Annoyance at harvesting and construction requirements and not having enough storage and not being able to obtain items required by quests. Resentment of semi-roleplayers and people who think Istaria's crafting system is the best thing since sliced bread and some of Virtrium's decisions.
- I can't really afford to renew the subscription.
- I want the freedom to play other games without feeling as if I have obligations here.
I'm far past the threshold that most people set for leaving a game. I've stayed only for a few good people and the fascinating roleplay storylines that exist among us. But those storylines are not very active at this point and, realistically, they will never be completed. As for the friends and acquaintances I've made here, I can still speak with most of them via IM.
