2nd Annual Festival of Ash

It's a little late in the year for the Festival, but far better late than never. For those of you who do not know, the Festival of Ash is a dragon holiday celebrating the coming of the new year and an end to the heavy ashfalls of wintry Dralk. It is a dragon holiday, so it might not pertain to bipeds, but biped culinary skills will absolutely be welcome, and certainly bipeds can attend. It is a time of sharing hoard, food, and stories among an otherwise separated people.

I'd like to hold it January 22nd. Times will be announced a little later on.

I also need help!

Last year, I had quite a bit of help and I am very thankful for it. But I also led the festival, and I'd like to give other dragons a chance to take part in the various ceremonies.

To that end, I need a few volunteers.

First, Helian and Lunus dragons: I need an adult or ancient who will represent their faction for a flight race around Dralk. If you'd like to represent your faction, please volunteer.

Second, I need someone to collect food and fireworks. This can be anyone!

Last and most important is the Speaker of Flame. The Speaker leads the ceremony and is a very important and spiritual position, normally held by elders. What I would like is nominations for this position - why you think someone else should be the Speaker. For those of you nominated, don't worry - I will help you as much as needed before and during the festival.

Sereamha could possibly lead the festivities. She is darn well old enough and couldn't really take part of anything else....plus she has led 3 bondings now I think?

Thanks everyone for coming out to the Festival~ We held the Helian procession to the cauldron and Stars gave a short and sweet speech and we kicked off the festival with a show of flame. We shared some good food and traded hoard as well!

Next, we heard some stories from Icecial on her life, Ausixen on Drulkar, Eidolen on his history, and two poems from the lovely Razylm and Sasuna.I told the story of my first festival and challenged the hatchlings to battle Turoth the Flame Golem, and they returned victorious with shards of the flame golem.

After that, we held the races. In the flight race between Helian and Lunus, with Nyoko representing the Helian and Xeffer the Lunus, Nyoko emerged victorious, earning the Helians a glorious victory! In the hatchling foot race, Rathios, Iskierka, and Draelen competed for hoard and honor. Iskierka came in first, earned a Battle-forged crest, with Rathios second and Draelen last, each earning a hoard gift.

At last the closing Reunion ceremony came and we went to the Dralk common cave, where we hard the story of the first festival after the schism. After that, we sat around and chatted as we all passed out from exhaustion one by one~ XD

I think Rathios might be putting up some pictures soon. Again, thank everyone who came out and helped make it another success. I look forward to next year!
