Thread: Pixel size?

  1. #1

    Default Pixel size?

I'm having a bit of fun playing with the AGHs trying to make some tweaks to my visual appearance, but I'm having trouble with one thing.

What is the correct pixel size of the dragon_u_sk**_head00_base.tga file?

I'm really trying to make changes to Kesqui's dorsal crest - instead of having the crest go all the way from the top of the head to the tip of the tail, I'm wanting to change it so that the back crest is invisible except at the hips and the last bit of the tail.

AGH Viewer says 1024 wide x 512 high.

Managed to break myself completely this time....

For some reason everything on the "head" image texture layer decided to lose its tint.... which has a pretty funky effect, but not exactly what I was aiming for!

Did you save the image in grayscale? The game won't tint if the image isn't in grayscale.

GIMP doesn't seem to let me save in greyscale, or at least I don't know how to use it well enough to force it to let me.

Now, if I import the TGA into Photoshop, it doesn't seem to retain the transparency, and the below is what happens....

Instead of having "clear" areas, I get black bordering....

Understanding of how transparency works in Targas has eluded me thus far. I just started using PNGs instead. :x

Does the /agh command work to AGH my PNGs as well as AGHing my TGAs?

Seems like the /agh command doesn't want to AGH my greyscale TGA.

sometimes /agh does not want to work. if im trying to do a tga file and it is not working ill resave it as a png then. also make sure their are no copies any where else of the file in another folder

I have answered my own question and ALMOST have it working now... will have to try playing with transparent PNGs in Photoshop, since I don't really like the tools in GIMP.

Edit: Well, you figured it out while I was typing this. So I erased.

The system should accept png and tga both. However, tga can be a little tricky to work with. A lot of how the final results appear depends upon the .sha files if one exists. They can cause an identical image in png and tga to appear differently. The .sha files are a bit of a mystery. Even to me and I have the documentation on them to work with.
