Alright! I got two rooms set up so far. Tazoon Dome and Grassy Plains (18+ RP). I figured we needed a mature room to avoid drama stuff in the main channels for things people would not like to see.

Yay! A question though - this is 18+. Right. But what of the character's age?

Well, that is actually a good point. Its pretty much a room where all mature RP's can take place, not just something where a hatchling might end up getting blinded because of. Its pretty much up to the player if they want to have their character in there, moderation is definitely a must!

Do you mean, by mature things, about darker events, like bloody battles, dark characters,... stuff like that?

Indeed, I find the 18+ stuff misleading. So are all the fights, issues, or difficult circumstances being moved to this spot? Or is this just a channel where characters grope each other?

If all issues and problems are removed from the RP channel, what point is there in even going to the RP channel? Light Rp is fine and nice, but it gets boring rather quickly if that is all there is.

That is what I am wondering, too. I wouldn't like the idea to make the Role-Play channel empty of RP events and action.

Now, the 18+ plus room is where mature subject matters that players feel shouldn't exactly be in channels like RP channel or New Tris would go. Obviously all fighting/conflict/excitement aren't... intense enough, I guess you could say, to upset players, nor has anyone suggested taking away all of the fighting/conflict/excitement from other channels. Like not every movie with guns in it is rated R. There's still PG, PG13 and stuff. Of course using this channel is up to the players if they want to use it. It's simply there as another option. *hopes I explained it well. Just woke up lol*

Can you give an example of what could be a mature subject? Personnally, I would name the channel "Mature RP" rather than "18+".

I think the 18+ Room, in terms of combat, was designed for those RPs that would be highly graphically disturbing, Example, some people were disturbed by how i described Thenalth's injuries after getting barreled into by Starstilanxs (Think of stars turning him into a dragon bowling ball, with all limbs flailing in the air, broken bones were a guarantee), while in comparison to many potential possibilities -Such as getting multiple limbs severed or tortured ect- It was pretty tame.

However, judging by Stars comment on it, anything could potentially happen there.

Yes, in the case there are descriptions of gory wounds, blighted rotting things, ... as well as very DARK and disturbing events/actions, I tend to think it should be kept for mature and/or private channels, and not describing such details on main or Role-Play public channel.

It definitely isn't supposed to be a room where people do random groping, but the entire intent of the room is for players to move to if they feel what they are doing is too graphical for the main rooms, it allows for a way to stem possible conflicts in OOC due to the nature of a particular RP. Violent and dark RP's are especially a key to why I made this RP room, I think it would help all around.

Just be aware, just because you want it +18 its still a public channel and you've got no way of knowing who is sitting in there watching your RP, how old they are, or how they may react to your RP.

I hope it doesnt become a problem, but I can see it creating issues where if the wrong people are in the room it can result in complaints to devs and then ...well I"d say room shutdown but its never happened before. But I can see how it could happen with a touchy area like this. Its VERY hard to police such things (i've tried..) and unless its invite only you can have 7 year olds or 12 yera olds hanging out in there hoping to catch something "dirty" or just "18+" just because it says so!

I do know what you mean by the more violent or dark RPs, and the adults out here in THIS THREAD know its not meant for raunchy type RP. But that doesn't mean everyone in game will know that, and people could start turning the room in ways you may not want it (I.e. ERP, and if you don't know what that means then dont worry about it lol). I'm just saying be extra cautious with this or it could lead to even more drama than you wanted by keeping such things out of other public RPs (but giving them a room to be in besides being in true private).

Its still a public room (unless its invite only then nvmnd...) in the end. Tagging it with +18 could just invite more issues than not tagging it at all.. Perhaps a different name to imply "The Darker Side" (like that name lol). Or something else that insinuates that darker or more violent interactions may be in here so "enter with caution", but not necessarily implying that its a ERP public place. (Because let's face it +18 is read as sex, not as violence or evil).

There's always the use of the password function if this mature chat is going to be so touchy. Just give out the password to RPers who are known to be mature enough to handle the channel and who might want to participate.

Giving this a bit of a bump to show that it is still around! Grassy Plains (Mature) is always open for RP and we've still got quite a few old timers in there.

I'd like to see some various rooms pop up, browsing the front page had some neat ideas, besides the brothel. With the newbies seeming to rp NT in the RP channel, maybe making a channel for the clearing with a lake would be a good idea?

If you password a channel it becomes private right? If that happens... then it kinda sucks because the channel disappears off the lists right? Which means no one will know it's there unless they get invited... which kinda sucks at the low population rate of the servers.

Yeah, passworded channels don't appear in the chat list. You can make one, but everyone has to know the command to join, the name of the channel, and the password. Grassy Plains (Mature) was always meant as a channel to promote more serious RP. Originally the tag was 18+, but that insinuated things that the channel was not for by any means. Mature RP could include the following: Characters dealing with conflicts with one another, serious talk about serious plotlines, or even a general place to hang out and talk with your fellow RPers.

I suppose I should make this known to new members as it is a very important topic that causes the title to seem more 'mature' than what it really is. It's community driven, so I can't often moderate everything that occurs within the chat, though we absolutely do not promote or condone any 'adult-based RP' (ERP as a general term). It is against what the channel was created for.

Violent RP can happen within Grassy Plains. Conflicts between characters do happen and can escalate, but might not be suitable for other people -- such as those within the Role-Play channel -- as some don't enjoy watching combat RP. It gives them a 'comfort zone' per se, to RP without bothering other players.

All in all, I want to invite everyone to the channel that understands the terms. We, as RPers, encourage mature RP and strong plotlines that could lead to excellent character development. It gives us a chance, as writers, to create our own lore based on the templates of which the devs worked tirelessly to develop. That is what Grassy Plains was meant for.
