Good news! If any of you rpg'ers out there remember Silver, and how it is a total menace to run on anything beyond Windows 98 ... there is a solution for Xp/Vista/Win7 and even 64-bit.

1 - Install the game ... anywhere but not the protected Program Files folder (I used c:\Games\Silver)

2 - Download the nvidia patch (whatever gfx card you have) ... http://sylph.me.uk/silver/downloads.html

3 - Apply the Windows Classic theme to your desktop. Now go to the Screen Resolution window... and just leave it open.

4 - Run the game.

If you don't apply the classic theme, or don't have the Screen Res window open, the game colours will be wrong. No idea why, but doing both makes it work!

I've been pining to play this game for years ... it came out in 1999, and when I bought a Geforce 256 a long time ago the graphics were corrupt.

Anyway it works now... finally ... I found these notes buried on a torrent file of all things, and they worked with my very old boxed UK version. I'd be interested to hear if they work with the US version.

If you have no idea what Silver is ... check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?playnex...D4284FC350D50A .
