Has anyone put in a request that the tiered essence residues are re-colored to match the wisps of that tier? Right now I'm running around Wisp Isle and all the residues look the same while the wisps are yellow, blue, and..gold?

If I remember right this can't be done because the different tiers of wisp residue all use the same game files. Which is unfortunate, because yes it's a pain in the butt.
However! There IS a mod to give most nodes, including essence residues, floating names. Still doesn't solve the problem of figuring out what's what at a distance, but it might be enough for your needs. Mod details, download, and instructions are right here.
The best way to do it. Isle of wisps is broken into 4 quadrants.. learn em
Dims with the shop
Pales across the street
Glowing down by the big rock (Some pales included)
Brights stick to the thin extension that jets out by the bridge.
But If your doing brights. Go To Sanctuary bay
Glowies are best handled in Heather (Acul after patches go live)
I do Dims and Pales at wisp isle
Also after the update.. Wisp isle will be loaded
OOoooooooooooooh yeah!
Just a little drunk dwarven bi-ped wreaking havoc in chaos.
The quadrants aren't exact though. Pales still spawn amongst the dims and throw me off if I'm not paying attention.

Hi
When I wrote the mod that recoloured the wisps (which is now included in the game), I looked at the essence residue as well, and as has already been stated, all the residues use the same graphics file so it wasn't possible to do. It's been asked for quite a lot though :/
