The best class to multiclassspearman with is shaman.

Shaman brings to the table the ability to heal, root, Damage over time abilties, gifts and raise spells, 10 magic evasion per lvl.

Afew other schools to look at getting: spiritist 20 (dodge, stinger(think it transfers to spearman as well as shaman), druid 16 (resilience, smash, natures fury, petrify), mage 8 (damage conversion spells), cleric 18 (smash, magic crush, dispirit foe)

    Pros of being a spearman:

You get to use a spear.

Chain is far better looking then boring plate.

You fight with flair others lack.

Your the best melee debuffer in the game.

    Cons:

a few abilties are a bit less then usable.

if you follow normal multiclassing methods certain other attacks are replaced bya better attack gained from basic low lvl multiclassing.

    only 8 evasion per lvl

Being a spearman is all about style.

For iron armour the two most popular choices are either armour for defense or one handed pierce for accuracy.

Helms get socketed and swap between crystals.
    Shields get the block tech.
Weapons a socket for a dark garnet weapons crystal or your crystal of choice.
Jewlery varries based on person but neckless is normally socketed.
