a mother lode is the principal vein or lode of a region. So "mother lode" is the correct spelling on that vein you come across.

Considering you specified ores other than silver and gold, though, as mother lode usually refers only to that, I guess the devs just spread the meaning out more so things don't get too confusing with there being mother lodes of gold and mother loads of cobalt.
Well , I guess that does make sense to use just one name on different nodes.
