Forums: May we have another default link color?

Heya Virtrians. The red colored hyperlinks on board posts are painful to see. I've got three monitors, where two of them have a big difference on lighting and coloring (bad quality), but I am regularly missing some of the inline links on either of them.

That issue could be solved by brightening the color a little, or adding a permanent underline.

I was actually kind of wondering this myself. If I'm linking something it turns it a brown to red colour for me that is difficult to tell from normal text. I'm not colour blind, but I can't imagine those who are being able to see the links well at all.

Could you maybe use a vibrant blue please? Or allow players to choose what colour they want to see links in on their profile?

Now that I've posted a random link, it seems this is the same color on every link on forums (ie Forum, Discussion, Suggestion, etc links).

These are a maroon color to me (dark red). This is a problem?

I've noticed that it's really, really hard to make out if people post a link in the middle of a paragraph (which I've seen happen in the player customization board), either blue like Arzel suggested, or white (so it wouldn't clash too much with the current colour scheme) would be really appreciated, heck underscoring it could improve it a ton.

That is exactly how it looks to me on my screen. Which is why I have such issues seeing it as a link.

I can barely make out any differance between a link and regular text. Alot of times I only know there is a link from reading the post and I'm actually moving my cursor around trying to stumble onto it so I see the underline show so i know where it is.

To me, on my laptop and desktop screens, the links look like a very dark brown admist near-black text. It's really hard to distinguish. I would suggest using a color like this: "#f38f00"

Ignoring my shoddy editing, it'd look like this:


And here are the colors lined up next to each other with the forum background:

(Left to right: Current link, current text, suggested link color)

Of course my suggestion color was basically just pulled out of a hat. Other colors that would work would be more clear browns (something like #835008) or reddish-oranges ( #cc3517 ). And by work, I mean would be clear without blinding people.
(And if you want to see those colors, toss the hexadecimals into google)

the darker colors seem better purple

and youre right that blue kinda hurts teal

And the yellow hurts my eyes, and will give me a headache as it is barely readable above the peach background without squinting, so its much and much the same as the brown in that regard. Blue works or perhaps a vibrant red. I don't think you are going to get a link colour that is going to match with the surrounding scheme, and I think that's the OP's point along with others who have raised the issue here. To change the link colour to something that is truly visible from the background scheme so that it is easily defined and readable without causing a migraine let alone for those with sight problems.

nope doesn't hurt my eyes but yes it clashes with the colour scheme its meant to so that its visible.. as for any yellow or brown... nope it blends in with the colour scheme to much

That teal could work I think, it stands out enough and isn't eye-burning

What about a light blue like what the lexica uses for its links and like Salwirk has on their signature for one of their character.

Honestly though, the change is welcome. I've always had a problem seeing the old link color but never thought it was important enough to fuss about.

I think blue links are fine. i mean its not like all posts are just filled with links everywhere...

While I agree that the original link color was a bit obscure, could we perhaps use a less bright flavor of blue? This one definitely hurts to look at, as Racktor pointed out, and it really does seem to clash with the color palette IMO. I hate to cause any issues, but... ouch.

Not that the link color makes or breaks anything, but the current one is rather eye-burning and clashes with the site a bit.
Why not use something like what's used for the notifications?
