Any problems with doing this?
Not that i know of. Why you assume such?
I was just checking. I'm getting ready to do some upgrades to my computer with an Nvidia chiset motherboard and a Radeon 9600 Pro video card. Should be much better than my 64 meg GeForce 2.
I'm using a 9600XT with Soltek Nforce2 board, 1gb ram, AMD 2800XP.
Best framerates I can remember getting were about 50fps, but that was rare.
Commonly itranges anywhere from 5 to 35fps.
My wifehas a similar system, different brandof9600xt video card but better m-board and processor althoughshe suffered plenty of crashes, which had her swearing about the video card and the rest of the system I built her.
Finally we were able to figure out why she got so many crashes. Cooling.
Always go for an extra fan or two to keep the air moving through the computer case.
I have a lovely pc...was fantastic with the Nvidia chipset and FX 5600XT then hubby bought me a Radeon 9800 pro and since then I have had so many system reboots and crashes its become a daily trial just to log in. SiSoft Sandra reports 25c MoBo 35c chip temps and the bios confirms this.
Si soft oddly reports a power supply temp of 71c which is weird...as power supply hasnt got a temp sensor. so perhaps we will try a humoungous cooler....visions of an icebeerg and an industrial fan come to mind.
using a nvidia Nforce2 chipset (gigabyte motherboard) and I am using my ATI X800 pro on it without any problems, I have also used the 9800 Pro, 9800 XT and 9600 XT on Nforce2 chipsets without any problems, I love the chipset and I love my ATI cards.
ah well it was nice while it was working...card is now dead. Seems I was just unlucky.
