Helping Hand to Future Battle Mages of Istar

Well, I think I am a pretty experienced vet of the game.. and Battle Mage is still my main and favorite class...

So, this goes out to all the curious people wondering about the class... if you have any questions--- just post in this thread and I can give you ideas and help you out!

I dont really play anymore, but nevertheless , sometimes i miss my battlemage :p
All that *hard work getting him in shape with the "right" mix of classes , and the
utterly sick results when "done" , hehe..

Ive just started playing and am really enjoying mage, mine is just over 20 atm.
I want a powerful player as I do solo a lot, or Im with a dragon.
Whats the differences between Battlemage and Bloodmage?
Which is better?
Where do I go from here :)

Bloodmage is something completely different than battlemage.
It deals with spirit magic, instead of the arcane, its a spritist prestige class.
Where as battlemage is a mage prestige class, its a hybrid between a warrior and a mage. Truly an immensly powerfull class, but needs alot of work.
Imho its well worth the time spent building your char asa battlemage , it should
atleast keep you busy for some time, hehe..

Questions:
1. What is the power comparison between a mage and a like-leveled battlemage? Bearing in mind I'm wanting to build a good AoE gatherer...

2. Would the ability to wear plate outweigh the difference in the power levels between a mage and a battle mage at the same levels?

3. What would be your suggestions for point placement if I'll never actually swing a weapon, but just use the class for it's skills and armor.. pure caster.

4. Any limitations to what spells I can use vs. the same level mage? again, AoE specific.

A battlemage pure class, wont even come close to the power of mage a pure class
mage of the same level.
I would suggest you keep your mage lvls well above the battlemage ones.
The reason being because of the awfull skill progression of the battlemage,
known as the "crazy 8" you get 8 points / lvl in flame / 1hs / armor use etc..
compared with the 10 armor use / flame / power etc, as mage :)
