lag suddenly 50x worse and there are 1/4 the #s of spawns?

Less spawn should mean less lag and not more. Could be you have a slow comp? Or a inferior graphics card? No idea but, I am not having this perticular problem att.

AMD 3000 64+
1 gig ram
video card 256 mb on board (just upgraded from a 128)

and I didn't stagger when walking until today. I didn't have to hit the create button 2-3x to craft an item before...it has actually gotten better, but earlier this evening I couldn't talk to NPCs or craft or anything without clicking several times. Hotkeys were also popping out again....

What did happen to our mob spawns, btw?

Most things that people call lag can be fixed by a simple defrag of the Harddisk. I'm doing this with every maintenance, as HZ really tends to de-order the files somehow. Have tried this lately?

Another very frequent instance of lag happens after maintenances and for two reasons:

- many people logging in, so the response times become much worse.

- I noticed that after maintenance the servers "trash" for at least 30 minutes - 1 hour, maybe (I don't know the exact reason) to finish executing some stored procedures started at boot up or who knows why. Then, when done with those mystery concurrent tasksthe situation suddenly reverts to "normal".
