How do you change your avator?

I uploaded a picture but I wasnt happy with it.. now that I try to update it and it does not change.. is there a way to change your avator??

it seems to take a little while to update the change to the avatar..not very long..but it was a noticible wait then suddenly the change I made wsa in place
