    New map, sucks real bad. Thats about all i can say....

    It should use less memory, as the resolution is much lower. The old problem of the brightness of the map is still present.

    It's nice that it has less of an effect on performance, however I'll stay with Pekka's for a while I guess.

    looks and runs fine here...can see roads better too. markers were turned off by default apon login, but otherwise.

    The Map window after patch opens right up instead of waiting a few seconds. Only downside is that the resolution on it is not as crisp as before, but I can deal with that in a world I know compared to not taking anymore memory than what HZ is taking in excess already.

    I liked the old map, the new one is pretty much useless.

    I will probably end up getting Pekka's.

    It has a much lower base resolution.

    Basically, they lowered the resoultion of the images by several factors. Zoomed out, it looks OK, but zoomed in, it is pixelated to hell.

    Well its not real clear but I'll live with that, because it doesnt slow me down like the old one. This one loads quick and disappears quick.

    Actually PNG is an absolutely WONDERFUL format. But it is just like any other format; it's all in how you use it.

    Easy map.def hack to make the map slightly less irritating.

    1) Open Horizons\resoruces\interface\maps\Istaria\map.def

    change: float MetersToPixels = 3.906250
    to---->float MetersToPixels = 15.625

    Save and exit.


    2) Open Horizons\resoruces\interface\maps\Istaria\map_ista ria_terrain.def

    change: float SectionWidth = 512.000000
    to ----> float SectionWidth = 128.000000

    and

    change: float SectionHeight = 512.000000
    to ----> float SectionHeight = 128.000000

    Save and exit.


    Now, when you open the map, it won't zoom in so much that you get gigantic pixels.

    Do we really need a high res map? There are not enough details when you zoom in anyways to be useful, so why do it at all? I'm liking the performance increase a lot.

    Instead of saying something *sucks real bad*, why not state exactly what you don't like about it? The devs can then possibly address issues from a more thought out statement .
