Thread: Working around IE

    Default Working around IE

    I try to avoid using Internet Exploder for a few reasons, but since that's not why I'm posting this, I'll cut to the chase.

    Once upon a time I read about another way to load the game that avoided using IE. Is that still around, is it still working well enough to get me by until the ActiveX project catches up with Firefox, and does anyone know where I can find it?

    The only workaround that I know of (besides an unsupported third party launcher) is http://community.istaria.com/Web/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=600which Dalthbar generously reposted here from Tazoon.com.

    Horizons needs IE because it relies on an ActiveX file to load the patcher, so once your files are up to date, you can use a script or fire horizons.exe from cmd.exe

    You still need to use IE to patch Horizons of course, but for use between patches you might want to look at what I posted on the Player Customization forum:
