Version 3.2 is now available
Both the High res and low res versions are now available.
The low res version of the map was made by Tulga.
The high res version was made with topomap by Fridlekh. I assume this was also used for tulga's maps.

I made a handy installer for the Map Pack for those who want an easy installation.
In theory it should automaticly find where your copy of HZ is installed.
For those that do not trust an executable made by some guy from a forum the zip files are also available.
The Zip version can be found near the bottom of this post.

What is the map pack?
The map pack is a large collection of map markers all over istaria, a range of new marker icons and in the case of the high res map pack offers a higher detail map too.

To help you find markers easier there are several filters to turn marker categories on and off.
The Group, Players, Markers and NPC's layer are system layers, they have not been changed from their original function.
Group shows group members, players show players around you, markers shows your self placed markers and npc's shows the npc's around you.

The map pack also offers a range of new Icons to use for your own markers.

The map pack is a project originally started by Pekka from Unity.
Many different people have contributed in the form of map markers, icons abd detailed maps.

Important! Read the installation instructions!
Do NOT install while HZ is running!

The Installer version of the Map pack
Choose the high res or the low res version:

Installation instructions:
(for zip version install instructions see below the zip download)

Step one, install the map pack
Double click on the downloaded file to start the installation, the installation program now starts.

In the first screen click "next"

In the Second screen click "next"

In this screen you must select where to install the Map pack.
The installer should automaticly find where you have Horizons installed.
Please make sure it is pointing to the correct folder. It should installdirectly to your Horizons folder.
When you are done, click "next"

In the next screen click "start" to start the installation.

Step Two, edit your clientprefs_main.def

Locate your ClientPrefs_Main.def file which is located in your Horizons\prefs\<servername>_<charactename r>\ folder.

Open the file and find this line near the bottom:

string mapPath = "resources\interface\maps"

Change this line to read:

string mapPath = "resources_override\interface\maps"

Close and safe the file.

You are now done!
Enjoy the Map Pack.

The Zip version of the Map pack
Choose the high res or the low res version:

The low resolution Map Pack v3.2
http://www.ancientorder.org/Download...LowResv3.2.zip

The high resolution Map Pack v3.2
http://www.ancientorder.org/Download...ighResv3.2.zip

Installation instructions:

Step One:
If you have a version of the map pack earlier then version 3.0 installed:
Remove the previous version of the map pack.
After deinstalling the map pack run a full scan.
Log out again and locate the folder "Ncon" in \Horizons\Resources\interface\maps and delete it.

If you have version 3.0 installed:
Go to \Horizons\Resources_override and open the folder "Interface".
Inside you will find the folders "themes" and "maps", delete these two folders.

Step Two
Simply unzip the zipfile into your Horizons root folder to install.
The unzip process will ask permission to overwrite a file, click yes.
Example:
You have Horizons installed to C:\program files\Artifact Entertainment\Horizons.
Unzip the file into that path. all files will be dropped in the right place automaticly.

Step Three
Open your ClientPrefs_Main.def file which is located in your Horizons\prefs\<servername>_<charactename r>\ folder and find the line near the bottom:

string mapPath = "resources\interface\maps"

Change this line to read:

string mapPath = "resources_override\interface\maps"

This will prevent the patcher from deleting the map pack.
Thanks to Amon for that tip.

Changes for version 3.2
-Created a user friendly installer.
-Completely renewed all map markers for Lesser Aradoth.
-Updated New Trismus with Crystals, new lair and wisp field.
-Added markers to Drakul.
-Added markers for lairs.
-Added markers for Azulyte Crystals (not all fields found yet).
-Added new icons for Lairs and Azulyte Crystals.
-Made the icons for tier 2-6 Fungus available (were commented out in def file for some reason).

Changes for version 3.1
-Fixed the resource layer to display the missing resource markers.
-Fixed the npc layer to display the missing npc markers.
-Fixed the name of new vassarak, it was displaying as new ssilna.
-Changed the map to the offical Tulga map, its a relief map so there is longer a need for a player made map. a 512x512 version will soon be available.
-Added a texture relief map for New Trismus.
-Updated map markers for New Trismus.
-Updated map markers for Kion
-Updated map markers for Island of the Drowned

Changes for version 3.0
-Merged the Trainers, Merchants and npc layers into a single Npc Layer. Less layers=less lag
-Merged the different tier resource layers into one layer, again to improve performance.
-Restored the zoom levels, we can ones again zoom in all the way.
-Added Drakul.
-Added Serenity.
-Added Balits Island.
-Added Island of the drowned.
-Added a relief map of trandalar.
-Added a "map" for the rift. This map is in fact no real map but only a placeholder graphic. The Sleeper and the landing pad are visible on the map. Its only good for finding your location in relation to the two mentioned points and your group mates. It is by no means useable to navigate the maze that is the rift. I felt that exploring the rift and getting lost there is part of its charm and Im sure the devs would want you to get lost there.

whats left to do:
-Update the map markers, moving from low tier to high tier. The idea is to help improve the newbie experience.
-Increase the size of the Kion map to show lady Kendra's manor.
-Create texture relief maps for the other 3 newbie islands.
-Find a way to keep UImapwindow.def from patching over, putting it in resource_override doesn't work.
-More stuff that isn't currently coming to mind.

Thanks go out to:

Fridlekh, for his great Topomap program.

Pekka, for leaving us the legacy of the map pack project.

Daj, for providing the Rift def files and making sure the player markers in the rift are actually dragons instead of bipeds with swords.

Elspeth, for providing the new markers for Lesser Aradoth.

Dragoniade, for providing lair markers.

Inferno, for being a testsubject.

The many players who provided the map markers.

Enjoy the Map Pack!
