Thread: Suggestion : Evasion techs.

I did some checking - my suspicions were wrong regarding the reason why evasion techs weren't in the game initially.

However, "Armour use is fundamentally different from evasion in that you cannot spend TP to increase it, and no skills improve it" still remains true.

The lack of evasion techs still discriminates against beserkers and monks, since evading the damage is the way they deal with incoming attacks, instead of trying to reduce it through high armour. Armour techs are far less useful on lower defense armour. (I can explain why if needed.)

As a *possible* limitation for evasion techs, I'd suggest limiting it to being teched on the lighter armours, which would prevent heavy armour wearers like clerics, reavers and chaos warriors from having high damage absorbtion, along with high armour, we well as a shield the blocks and a weapon with a parry bonus. Given the fact that all armours have a requirement of their level*10, it would be nice to see the lighter armours have some benefits over their heavier cousins.

Another *possible* limitation would be to force players to decide with having an armour bonus or an evasion bonus.

I've been asking around... aren't Wards (Flame, Slash, Crush, etc) based in preventing damage, a la evasion? and aren't Resists (Flame, Slash, Crush, etc) based in damage mitigation? If that is truly the case then dont you in fact have your 'evasion' techs? You just have to make the conscious choice which damage your going to evade. Check it out, get back to me on it.

You have ward and resistance techs, and you have ward and resistance spells. You also get the catch-all armour tech, which provides resistance to all non-ethereal damage, as far as I know.

It certainly reduces *all* physical damage. Evasion is armour's compliment as wards are the compliment to resistance, at least along this line of reasoning.

If the armour techs do not increase your damage resistance to things like flame or nature, I suppose it could be considered a reason not to be able to tech against magic evasion, but I'd personally consider the justification quite weak. (Magic evasion, as far as I know, it almost totally ignored for the purposes of TP anyway. )

Only ethereal damage bypasses armor, and instead uses ethereal armor, so there's armor there too.
You're looking at now. Everything that happens now is happening now.
