this game sounds like the old HZ
pvp
everyone hates dragons and dragons dont like the lesser races too
In my opinion, if the game keep the current course, it will fail.Originally Posted by Vlisson

I know that those game aren't chat, but when it come to monitor if you're chatting outside the game with other player, it's a bit over the edge.
And I find stupid that if you play a dragon, you will be unable to communicate with anything else than a dragon... And that the only way to grow up is fight among yourself... Unless that has changed, but last time I read about dragon developpment, there were a lot of discussion about how dragon would be hunted for the sheer pleasure of it (and to get them permadead).

Yeah, definately an "original HZ" clone. Notice how those 4 screenshots show you all the vegetation in their world, there were alot of those screenshots when Horizons was in developement, with all sorts of bushes in the forest. That never made it into the game, obviously.
Same kind of hype and screenshots. But check this "dragon" out for a laugh, it's like a birth-defected giraffe walked into a pool or radiation and sprouted wings.

100 lives only? I'd rather they had servers with different rules for different types of player. D2 hardcore mode is fun, but for an MMORPG, having you character destroyed forever would cause most people to quit. Plus I think they're taking things with dragons a bit too far (new ones will have trouble with rabbits, lol).
I'll probably try it just because of the dragon bit. Hoewver... I dont' like the set up even as an MMO...
Here's how I see things happening in a few different possible ways.
You work through the game and level and do what nots getting to high level. You die... All that work, down the hole. Some people will take up the reigns and try again. A lot of people will stop playing. Example... World of Warcraft, anyone who's been to level 60 there DREADS starting over. It might be alright the first time you start over but... once you get to the third character it just sucks. Why? Because you're just doing the same thing over and over again.
Then there's all the stuff Dragonaid pointed out.
Personally, the game looks like a whole heck of a lot more "work" than it is "play" and honestly... I have a job... I play games to escape having to do "work" =) I'm not speaking of just dragons too... I'm saying even as a biped it looks like WORK. Not to mention from the sounds of it... You need to be actively participating and playing the game daily. Personally, I want to log on because I want to escape and be there that day. I don't want to "Log on" because if I don't my character might die of some random disease, which, oh by the way is one life thrown away. i don't wanna have to scrounge up food and eat and make sure I sleep... because if I don't then I don't fight effectively
As a dragon, how much fun would it be to wake up with a raid party of 50 players waiting to skin you alive where you sleep... just as you log on your greeted by them. Before you say "well you just need to build a massive lair with traps and all this stuff and in a hard place to get to..." Uh, that's nice, but honestly players are really smart. I've seen them do things they shouldn't be able to... Everquest... The sleeper anyone? A whole server got together and defeated that mob that was originally designed to NOT BE defeatable. Don't underestimate the desire and need for a player to do everything.
As a biped... how much fun is it going to be to build up a massive character with property amung other things.... and you die and lose it all? [if you don't cheat the system and have someone there to trade to a new character.]
As a dragon...I can see the fun in being a survivalist but... Is it REALLY nessecary to penalize them for even socializing or making friends? What if I want to be more of a socialist dragon? Why can't I even have a family or a clan of my own dragon friends? You're penalized for grouping period is my understanding. Is it really great that dragons are out for eachother's blood too? I think there should be two dragon factions that war but not everyone for themself?
The game has a lot of great ideas I think, but I think they're going a little too extremist in areas I'm not happy about. I'm curious to see how it does... I do not have high hopes for it. I don't think they'll make many sales seeing as they are hitting a minority of players. I expect 2 servers maybe, just like HZ.
Oh and before anyone pounds me for being a carebear... Iplayed EVE and thoroughly loved it! Enjoyed PVP and getting into system battles. I just again, did not have TIME to commit to the massive on going wars there. There is a difference between logging on for fun, and having to log on or your clan beating you down for not being there when they need them. =/ It turns into a full time job.
Grr, I hate making grammatical mistakes. That aside, I still think different servers for different types of play would be a good idea. Personally I think dragons can't even go near humanoids without messing up growth is taking things a bit far, what if the dragon gets hungry? What about people that may want to play as 'good' dragons that only fight evil and help humanoids (I prefer that term to bipeds personally)?Originally Posted by JDavidC
Permanent death would need to be restricted to some servers IMO, maybe with the odd Diablo 2 Hardcore mode like servers for the 'How far can you get on one life?' challenge. Trying to avoid death isn't the same after you've already died once.
One more thing, they need to make the dragons look like real dragons, that pic was HIDEOUS.
I agree I wont play a dragon if they make me look like THAT! But I'm a wait and see attitude right now. For all we know it might not even make it to production.
That is a very ugly looking dragon.. one would wonder how that thing would even be able to stand up with such small feet, let alone fly with that stiff looking giraffe body..
I wouldn't play ToA if it came out as is, what with those weird dragons and perma-death crap. Seems to me this would be a game for complete hermits who have time to be on the computer 24/7.

But, that's what they want you to be. If you lose all your friends and become estranged from your family, then the people you play in-game with are your only friends and family, thus, even if you hate playing the game, you NEED to play it, because, if you stopped, you'd start crying once you realized your real friends and family are gone. And crying doesn't feel good, playing feels good. (And you never cancelling your subscription makes them money, lots and lots of money.)Originally Posted by Dremora

Okay, on this page the dragon looks a way MORE better, but i think its a drawed picture, not a rendered dragon...
But what more bugs me :
Male Female:
Willpower: 90 95
Intelligence: 85 80
Okay it gooooood that there a male and female dragons, not neutrals like in hz :P BUT, why should be males more intelligent than females? <_< >_> I think it would be better if the stats would be equal....
btw that other races look really nice for me, like those kitties, gargoyles, pixies and griffons.. weeeee
Oh well lets see if they can make good modells out of the concept art :P

RTFP! (=Read the friggin post!)
I said the stats should be equal, not that femals should be stronger in somehting.
Well, it's a sex-based slur, is what it is. It's the sterotype that woman tries to get her way and whines/huffs & puffs untill she gets it, because man gives in to her will with "yes dear". The assumption is that, because she has less strength her mode of fighting is to annoy the opponent to death with words, (rather than out-and-out combat,) outlasting him because males don't like bickering.Originally Posted by Vlisson
While this situation might be true in some cases, it's also true that women are the cowed ones in many situations, in some countries women can get acid thrown in their faces for backtalk and other such offenses.
It's just plainly obvious that either sex can be stupid or lack confidence, so I find the different sex stats not only offensive but bizzare.
I fully agree to your post Tsarevna, the sex choice should only be a cosmetical or RP factor, not a choice that affects your gaming.
"I chossed male because they get more xxx, I choosed female because they get more xxx."
Again a point that I dislike at ToA.
