Have the devs ever thought of having a linux version of the client?
I just lost the game.
Some of the third-party components used by the Istaria client are not natively available for Linux, so the devs would have to recreate the functionality provided by those components from scratch. If they were to invest that much effort they might as well work on a whole new client for all platforms, not just Linux.
The client runs on Wine... usually.
You might have to go through an extra hoop to get it to launch if it dies with an uncaught exception from the Java launcher:
- edit prefs/clientprefs_launch.def
- insert your username and password in the corresponding fields, removing the *REMOVED* strings
- add the line: bool requirecommandlineparams = false above the username line
- run istaria.exe directly: wine istaria.exe
You can get anything you want in life -- just make a lot of noise and bite the right people.
Having it run in wine is good enough.
