Soon as you get this to live shards I will consider coming back....i did the trial thing and workthroughs and it worked like a charm on blight (game even ran substantially better from what i remember) but im not payin a single penny until i see it workin on live and can access my old account.

I think there are a lot of people waiting for the Vista fix before coming back, you are not alone. Hopefully the update will be greeted with much fanfare and a lot more players joining/re-joining!

And if you don't want to pay a penny, have you considered a different currency? Euros, Australian or New Zealand dollars should also work

The Vista client works like a charm for me on the live shards.

My only worry is that the hatchling glide won't make it in the update. From what I understand hatchies can't glide on the regular shards without the Blight patch.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

How do you run the game without having it patch again? The client works when I patch for Blight, but if I want to connect to Order (where I actually NEED this to be working...), it always replaces the executable...

LOL...smarty pants....I didnt mean to sound harsh there...just had some issues with billing way back and am sensitive about paying for anything unless im absolutely sure its gonna work.

Ahkmos: the blight version is different from live...so when you try and connect to live (order) it forces you to patch to "orders" version...once they push the blight version to live then it will work...until then the fix only allows you to connect to blight

Fantastic... here I thought somehow I could just run it anyway, seeing as damger made it sound like he could use it to run on the live servers. Like maybe through the old batch file method or something.

There are ways of working around it if you look earlyer in this thread they talk about it. Flindar the payment options work now they are using safe reputable billing agents now.

Sad that we're now doing 10x MORE to log in with VISTA than we were before they even came up with this patcher.....

    And this is progress?

Well, since this solution works everytime, I think there's some progress
Also as soon as it'll be released to live, you won't have to do any trick anymore. Just gotta wait until testing and bug fixing is done and it'll be all good

Your doing 10 times if your trying to use an unofficial system to log into live. Me on windows 7 I download log into blight and away I go. No problems. Maybe I am just lucky. So yes it is progress.

Ahhh.. figures. I was looking all the workarounds to get it to work with live. I'm not around enough to know it's only meant for blight.

I'll keep an anxious eye out for the live update.

    Thanks!

As posted by Fridlekh somewhere previously in this nightmarishly long thread.....

This should work if memory serves me correctly...

log on to a live shard with a char you want to play as
    exit (or crash)
    copy clientprefs_launch.def somewhere safe
patch / log on to blight
    exit
patch with the vista client exe/dlls
replace the clientprefs_launch.def and open it
    set requirecommandlineparams=false
fill in the user name and password fields for login
    close (save)
    double-click istaria.exe
    profit

I followed step by step and now im on live servers using the blight client with Vista.......so far i've logged in a few times and its workin great......

A warning for those using this client--it uses the world cache from blight which may conflict with the live servers. I "sort of" detail an incident here:

    http://community.istaria.com/forum/s...80&postcount=6

It's a pretty simple solution--log in and go to the options.
On the Options tab (yes, Options tab on the Options window) check "Clear World Object Cache on Game Exit".
    Log out, log back in.
    Problem solved.
